Ein sehr (etwas zu) detailliertes Buch zu den Aktivitäten von Jeff Bezos und Amazon bis in das Jahr 2012. Es wimmelt nur so von Bezügen zu Meetings und handelnden Personen und das Buch ist somit sehr glaubwürdig. Es vermittelt fast den Eindruck eines Tagebuchs, man springt häufiger vorwärts und rückwärts. Für mich war allerdings oft nicht mehr nachzuvollziehen, wer eigentlich wer war und warum er was getan hat. Man hätte der Klarheit zur Liebe sicherlich auf viele Details verzichten können. Für die Anzahl an Kernthemen (eigentlich nur „die ultimative Kundensicht von Bezos“) ist der Umfang deutlich zu groß. Aber egal, man kann recht gut nachvollziehen, wie sich Amazon entwickelt hat und welche Praktiken vorherrschen. Die Fokussierung von Jeff Bezos „auf die Zufriedenheit des Kunden“ wird sehr sichtbar, so auch seine individuelle Intelligenz, sein strategisches Denkvermögen, seine Methodenstärke, seine visionäre Kraft und seine außerordentliche Persönlichkeit. Man bewundert zweifelsohne den „Typ“, sicherlich am Ende aber nicht die Methoden von Amazon hinter den Kulissen. Ich hätte gerne noch etwas mehr über die Trickkiste und die Prinzipien des Jeff Bezos gelesen, deutlich mehr als das, was beschrieben wurde, z.B. die „Sechs Grundwerte“ und etwas zu seinen organisations-Prinzipien.Ein Buch für jeden, der die Denke von Jeff Bezos und Amazon kennenlernen möchte

Die Faktenfülle ist beeindruckend: Brad Stone scheint nicht nur mit Jeff Bezos ausführlich gesprochen zu haben, sondern auch mit vielen Weggefährten. Das macht das Buch ergiebig. Aber die Haltung ist zu wohlwollend. Auch wenn Schattenseiten erwähnt werden, geht Stone letztlich dem alten Genie-Mythos auf den Leim: Bezos erscheint als der geniale Wahnsinnige oder wahnsinnig Geniale, den nichts und niemand aufhalten kann und dessen Macken letztlich notwendig und verzeihlich sind, damit Großes entstehen kann. Dabei hatte Bezos Stone noch davor gewarnt, nicht in die Falle der narrativen Verzerrung zu tappen. Schade, ich hätte es gerne gesehen, wenn Stone Licht und Schatten gleichermaßen Raum gegeben und das Urteil dem Leser überlassen hätte.

Für Menschen, die gerne Biographien lesen und sich gerne mit Wirtschaft und den Unternehmen beschäftigen ist dies mal wieder ein sehr gut geschriebenes, inhaltlich gut aufbereitetes und trotzdem gut und relativ leicht zu lesendes Buch.Jeff Bezos und Amazon beschäftigt ja sehr viele Menschen, deshalb auch viele interessante Entwicklungen zu finden.

Der reißerische Titel sollte nicht von dem gut recherchierten Inhalt und der durchgehenden Erzählung ablenken. Viele Interviews und sehr viele Bezüge auf die Praxis in Amazons Alltag - geschrieben von einem Outsider - ergeben ein super Buch für alle Leser, die sich in junge Internet-Unternehmen hineinversetzen zu versuchen. Die teilweise sehr technischen Passagen über die neuen Entwicklungen werden deutlich erklärt und die Sprünge von einzelnen Etappen von Amazons Entwicklung sind durch die vielen Gespräche sehr gut dokumentiert. Lediglich die wirklich sehr miserable Übersetzung ins Deutsche ist ein Kritikpunkt, der nicht übersehen werden kann. Alle in allem eine klare Kaufempfehlung.P.s. die Dokumentation der Arbeitsatmosphäre mit dem Druck und harten Alltag erscheint wie der Gegenpol zu Tony Hsiehs Buch "Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose"

Eigentlich wollte ich mir ein schmaleres Buch kaufen, ein Buch, das sich direkt mit Amazons Einflußnahme auf den Buchmarkt beschäftigt, schwenkte aber auf diesen Titel um, der von Rezensenten als der bessere empfohlen wurde.Ist er das? Nun, er ist doppelt so teuer und doppelt so umfangreich, das schon. Unglaublich kenntnis- und detailreich breitet Stone die Entwicklung Amazons und seines Gründers vor uns aus, so daß ich mir nicht selten dachte: "Sooo genau wollte ich es dann auch wieder nicht wissen."Wie bei solchen Managerbiographien nicht selten, schwankt der Verfasser zwischen Anbetung ("Was für ein intelligenter, tatkräftiger, begabter Machertyp!") und Grusel ("Mit manischer Getriebenheit drückt er mit fiesen Methoden Lieferanten und Verlage an die Wand") hin und her.Zu meinem Bekanntenkreis gehören Kleinverleger. Deren Verhältnis zu Amazon ist gespalten: Einerseits könnten sie ohne den Online-Riesen ihr Sortiment längst keiner so breiten potentiellen Käufermasse präsentieren wie im traditionellen Buchhandel mit seinem beschränkten Platzangebot (und oft auch Ladeninhabern mit leicht beschränktem Horizont), andererseits ist das Wehklagen groß über willkürliche Maßnahmen Amazons (Auslistungen politisch inkorrekter Bücher, Löschen erotisch freizügiger Titelbilder), über fehlende Kontaktmöglichkeiten, über die Art und Weise, wie Amazon als internationaler Konzern international verschachtelt ist, so daß man ihn kaum greifen kann (darüber klagen nationale Regierungen wie deutsche Kleinverleger) und und und ...Amazon erscheint als Drohung wie auch als Verlockung. Mir erscheint Amazon-Chef Bezos nach der Lektüre als so was ähnliches wie Discounter-Chefs à la Aldi-Brüder: Amazon ist für die Kunden oft prima, für die Lieferanten oft weniger schön, um es mal milde auszudrücken, die werden geschubst und getreten (ebenso wie die Mitarbeiter), denen drückt man die Preise und Konditionen bis zum Gehtnichtmehr - sie entwickeln eine Haßliebe zu Amazon: Ohne Amazon geht es nicht, aber mit Amazon geht es oft auch nicht ...Fazit: Aufstieg und Werdegang des "Allesverkäufers" Bezos werden gekonnt und kenntnisreich beschrieben - aber mit ein paar Details weniger wäre die klare Linie vielleicht sichtbarer geworden ...

Es ist interressant Einblicke in das leben des gründers von Amazon zu bekommen,was steckt hinter der Maske was möchte herr bezos noch erreichen.

Sehr gutes Buch um den Hintergrund und die Vielfälltigkeit von Amazonas zu verstehen.Allerdings kenne ich jetzt auch sämtliche Universitäten im Land ;-)
